How to Fish: 38 Fish & Lures by Island
38 regular catches across five islands, each tied to a specific lure. Get the lure wrong and the water looks empty.

How lures work
A higher-tier lure is not a universal upgrade. Each island's pool is tied to its own lure, so a Scientific Lure does not quietly catch everything a Beginner Lure would.
If nothing useful is biting, the lure is usually the problem — not the spot and not your timing.
Two catches break the pattern worth knowing about. Clams are picked up off the ground rather than fished, and Piranha and the crabs come in on the Crab Fishing Rod with food rather than a lure.
Lure tiers by island
The tiers track island progression exactly, so your lure upgrades pace themselves.

How many creatures there are
Published totals disagree — you will see 49, 50 and 54 quoted on different sites. So rather than pick one, here is the count this wiki can actually show you:
- 38 regular catches across the five island pools, listed above.
- 11 boss and mini-boss encounters, listed on the boss page.
- 49 in total — which lands on the figure the larger guide sites publish, so the enumeration and the headline number agree. Patch 1.1.0 added more creatures and a mini-boss around the mini islands, which are not counted yet.
Every regular catch also has a rare Drip variant. Those use the same rod and lure as the ordinary version, so they need no separate bait and do not add to the count above.
How this page is sourced
Built from two published fish lists, cross-checked against each other. They agree on names, islands and lure tiers; where one list was less complete than the other, the longer list was used, since the difference was omission rather than disagreement.
Not yet verified in-game by this wiki. Caught something that is not here, or found a lure listed wrong? Send the details — island, lure used, and what bit.
