How to Get the Bow in How to Fish

The bow is not in any of the island gun shops. It came with the Islet Update and lives on the new mini islands.

Short version: update to Patch 1.1.0 or later, find the mini islands between the main ones, earn some euros there, and buy the bow from the trader on a mini island. Dollars from the main islands are reported not to work.

When the bow was added

The Islet Update, Patch 1.1.0, released on September 28, 2026. Its notes list a new weapon, multiple mini islands, a new NPC, a new mini-boss, a new bait, more creatures and new achievements. Patch 1.1.2, the next day, added two bow skins, which confirms the bow is the new weapon. If you are on 1.0.12 or earlier, it is not in your game.

Where to find it

  1. Look for the mini islands. They sit between the five main islands — 1.1.0 also changed the distance between islands to make room. Patch 1.1.2 made the mini island dots on the Radar bigger, so the Radar is the quickest way to spot them.
  2. Find the trader. Players describe the bow seller as a hooded trader at a stall on a mini island, and the island itself as castle-like, with a round wall.
  3. Pay in euros. The trader is reported to take euros only. A community wiki lists the bow at €25; another guide could not confirm a price, so read the purchase prompt rather than trusting the number.

How to get euros

Euros come from the islet content rather than the main loop. Players report two sources:

  • Money in a bottle — found on a sandy mini island with a single tree. It is also an achievement.
  • New islet catches — the creatures added in 1.1.0, caught around the mini islands. Patch 1.1.2 raised the new bait's spawn on the mini island from two to three, which makes this faster than it was at launch.

Earning your first euro unlocks the Bilingual achievement, so you will know when it has happened.

Using the bow

  • Hobin Rood. The achievement needs a creature killed with an arrow. The finishing hit has to be the arrow — softening something with a gun and then shooting it with the bow only counts if the arrow lands the kill.
  • Attachments. Players report the gun-shop attachments fit the bow, with the red dot and laser sight the usual pick. Patch 1.1.2 also added the option to go back to iron sights.
  • Reload. Patch 1.1.2 made reload rebindable, which matters more on a one-arrow-at-a-time weapon than on the guns.
  • Upgrades. Arrow upgrades are reported to be sold at the same stall, also for euros. We have not found a damage figure we trust enough to publish.

Is it worth it?

For progress, not really — the main fights are built around the guns, and the late bosses want the Sniper Rifle and a fully upgraded Assault Rifle. The bow is for the achievement, for the islet content, and for the fun of it.

The patch facts come from the developers' Steam announcements for 1.1.0 and 1.1.2. The trader, the euro price and the euro sources come from player reports and community wikis, which do not all agree, and are not yet verified in-game by this wiki. Seen it differently? Tell us.
